The Mountains

“The Kingdom of the Gods

Up there, beyond the clouds, where the world of men reaches its limit, the mountain pierces the sky.

Up there, where the trail loses itself in the rock and the fog hides the edge of the precipice, sanity blurs.

Do you hear it? Up here, the wind lashes at the men seeking a purpose to their existence.

Do you see it? Up here, the sun scorches the eyes of those who dared to look beyond the horizon.

Poor is the one who found up here the border to the kingdom of the gods, and never wished to return!”

There is an unstoppable need within the human being to reach the impossible, to climb to the summits and crown the highest peaks.

Our ancestors already saw in the mountains, where the rock pierced the sky, the boundary between their world and that of the gods. There was a vital mystery, hidden among the fog and snow, waiting for those bold enough to venture to try to reach it.

It is this mystery that drives me to create this series, portraying the personality of these mountains that once coined myths and legends, that were the cradle of gods and demons, and that shaped the lives of those who at some point beheld them and dreamed of reaching them. That is why I decided to approach this photographic series in monochrome, like images from a dream, thus distilling their purest essence.
